The ULTIMATE Facebook guide

admin

I am currently sitting in Temple’s TECH center. As I gaze around to see what peers are checking on their computers, I would say 50% of them are browsing Facebook.

Ah, Facebook every college students best friend/worst enemy.
I have noticed that around the web there is a lot of scattered information about this beast but no one places that houses every Facebook resource there is out there. Below is every you should ever need to make Facebook work for you.

The Ultimate Guide:

First up we have Firefox scripts that use the extension Greasemonkey to help improve Facebook. All of the below extensions have been tested and work as of September 6th, 2006. There are numerous other extensions out there but I could not get them to work.

Greasemonkey Extensions:

The Age Checker 1.1

This script automatically calculates the age of the profile you are viewing.

AIM Staus Icon

Lets you know the AIM status of the profile you are viewing, even knows if you are away.
Auto Login

Automatically logs you in, assuming you have password saved.

Auto Poke

Automatically pokes people back (not tested).

Auto Refresh

Refreshes your homepage every 30 seconds.
Mini-Feed Killer

Clears out your mini-feed

Facebookpedia

Adds Wikipedia pop-ups when you hover over an interest
Facebook Stalkrnet

Turns the Facebook logo into the StalkrNet one.
inYofacebook

Hover over a picture, it enlarges it. Note: I added the gray blocks in the screenshot.

Mustache your friends

A fun little extension that allows you to drag mustaches on the profile page you are currently viewing.

Facebook stalker

Highlights chages in your friends’ interests.

Firefox Extensions

Studio LD Facelift skin

Adds a whole bunch of functionality to facebook by incorporating many of the above Greasemonkey scripts.

Styles

Facebook Antique

Facebook auto color

Automatically colors your page to match your photo
Green Facebook

A green theme with red links. Ugly as sin.

Tricks

The Creator

In order to be friends with the creator, keep the first 2 digits of the profile ID number in your profile’s URL. Replace the rest with zeros, make the last one a 1. (So if your profile id is 895642 make it 890001)
Getting around a blocked facebook

If Facebook (or any site) is blocked at your school use this trick.

Tiled friends

In your “My friends” drop down box click the separator “—”

Random photo

Replaced a pictures ID number with a random number. There is also a program available that will do this.

Add a hit counter to your notes
See the details here.

Facebook Links

Facebookprofile

Random features, has a lot of cool ASCII wall postings

The Official Facebook Blog
A Day off from Facebook 9/12

Inside Facebook

More?

I KNOW I missed something, somewhere. Let me know and I will add it with haste. Until then have fun, because in Soviet Russia: Facebook Stalks you.
